3-Day Bird Photography Tour in Kenya Itinerary
Day 1
Nairobi – Lake Baringo
Your adventure begins with a scenic morning drive from Nairobi to Lake Baringo, one of the Rift Valley’s most famous birding hotspots. You’ll arrive at the lodge around 2:30 PM for check-in and some relaxation. Take time to freshen up, enjoy the peaceful lake view, and prepare for the exciting days ahead. Dinner will be served at the lodge as you settle into the serene atmosphere of Baringo.
Day 2
Birding and Photography at Lake Baringo
6:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Early morning bird watching along the lake shore, the best time to photograph species like herons, kingfishers, and cormorants in the golden morning light.
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the lodge.
10:00 AM – 6:00 PM: Embark on a boat ride across Lake Baringo, where you’ll photograph the iconic African Fish Eagle in action as it swoops for fish. You’ll also visit Ruko Conservancy, a protected area where birdlife thrives among giraffes, hippos, and crocodiles. Return to the lodge by evening for dinner and relaxation.
Day 3
Cliffs, Raptors & Flamingos
6:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Early morning bird watching along the Baringo cliffs. This is an excellent time to spot and photograph elusive species such as the Verreaux’s Eagle Owl and Nightjars.
11:00 AM: Return to the hotel for lunch and a short rest.
12:00 PM: Depart for Lake Bogoria, famous for its vast flocks of lesser and greater flamingos. Capture breathtaking shots of the pink birds contrasting beautifully with the lake’s steaming hot springs and alkaline waters.
6:00 PM: Return to the hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 4
Check Out
After breakfast, you’ll check out and begin your journey back to Nairobi — your memory cards full and your heart even fuller.
