The Rhino Charge is unlike any other motorsport event in the world. Held in a different secret location each year, this extreme off-road challenge tasks teams with navigating between guard posts scattered across 100 square kilometres of unmarked, rugged African terrain in the shortest distance possible — no roads, no tracks, just raw bushwhacking through forests, river gorges, and boulder fields.
What makes the Rhino Charge truly special is its purpose. Every shilling raised goes directly to the Rhino Ark Charitable Trust, which funds the electric fence around the Aberdare Forest and other critical conservation projects. Since its inception, the event has raised hundreds of millions of Kenya shillings for wildlife conservation, making it one of Africa’s most impactful fundraising events.
Teams modify their 4×4 vehicles — often to spectacular extremes — and compete in classes ranging from production vehicles to purpose-built machines. The atmosphere combines high-octane competition with conservation passion, bush camping, and the camaraderie of Kenya’s outdoor community. Spectators set up camp at the event site and enjoy a weekend of watching teams tackle impossible terrain.
