Diani Beach Festival & Beach Clean-Up

The Diani Beach Festival combines beach culture, live music, ocean conservation, and coastal sports into a vibrant week-long celebration on the shores of one of Africa’s most beautiful beaches. The white coral sands of Diani provide the backdrop for an event that attracts both locals and international visitors.

The festival kicks off with a community beach clean-up and underwater reef clean organized in partnership with local marine conservation groups. Volunteers snorkel and dive to remove debris from the coral reefs of Diani Marine Reserve, combining environmental action with the beauty of the underwater world.

Throughout the week, enjoy beach volleyball and football tournaments, kitesurfing demonstrations, stand-up paddleboard races, and sandcastle competitions. Evening events feature live Kenyan music — from Taarab and Chakacha to contemporary Kenyan pop — beach bonfires, and local seafood festivals with the freshest lobster, crab, and fish straight from the Indian Ocean.

Conservation workshops cover marine turtle protection, coral reef restoration, and sustainable coastal tourism. It’s a festival that celebrates the beauty of Kenya’s coast while working to protect it for future generations.
