Day-by-Day Itinerary

Londorossi Gate to Big Tree Camp

Drive to Londorossi Gate. Trek through pristine montane rainforest to Big Tree Camp (2,780m).

Big Tree Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Ascend through heather to the Shira Plateau. Spectacular views as you reach Shira 2 Camp (3,900m).

Shira 2 to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

Climb to Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp (3,960m). "Climb high, sleep low."

Barranco to Barafu Camp

Scramble up the Barranco Wall, cross the Karanga Valley, and reach Barafu Camp (4,640m). Rest before summit attempt.

Summit — Uhuru Peak (5,895m)

Midnight departure. Push through the scree to Stella Point and finally Uhuru Peak. Descend to Mweka Camp.

Mweka Camp to Gate

Descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate. Certificate ceremony and transfer to Moshi.
