My name is Joseph Kuria, and I’m more than just a photographer — I’m a storyteller with a passion for capturing life as it unfolds. My journey behind the lens began in the quiet hills of Subukia, a small village in Kenya where I first discovered the magic of photography at just 14 years old. I didn’t have much, but I had an eye for beauty, a curious spirit, and a deep love for preserving memories.
In 2010, driven by a desire to turn passion into profession, I moved to Nakuru to study photography at Smart Media Nakuru. Unfortunately, the institution closed its doors shortly after. It was a tough moment, but instead of giving up, I adapted — enrolling in a Community Development and Social Work course. That path shaped my understanding of people, communities, and human connection — the very essence of my photography today.
Through every twist in life, my camera remained by my side. It became a tool of service, love, and identity. My family affectionately calls me the “camera man wa family,” trusting me to capture their most cherished moments. I’ve documented countless birthdays, weddings, and spontaneous get-togethers — moments that may seem small, but mean everything when frozen in time.
Friends like James Kuria, CEO of Eunidrip Irrigation Systems, often joke with me: “Na unapenda kupiga picha.” And they’re right. Photography isn’t just a job. It’s my heartbeat.
Over the years, I’ve grown my brand, Joe Photography and Safaris, into a full-service experience that blends photography, videography, and tours. Whether I’m capturing the raw emotions of a wedding, the elegance of a hotel, the thrill of a safari, or the detail in a product shoot, I pour my heart into every frame. My work has taken me across Kenya — from the Great Rift Valley to the plains of the Mara — telling stories for families, couples, brands, and travelers from all walks of life.
